Livermore is a rural agricultural community in the heart of Central Iowa with a population of about 431. The city is in Humboldt County located on highway 169, approximately 11 miles North of Dakota City, Iowa the county seat, and about halfway between Humboldt and Algona, Iowa. Livermore is regionally famous for its old settlers heritage. The architecture of the town captures the flavor of a small Village and the traditions and values of the early settlers are passed on still today. The community hosts an annual celebration and festival (Livermore DAZE) on the third Saturday in July, with a parade, garden tractor pull, School Class Reunions, street dance, food, and entertainment ect. for mor info www.livermoredaze.org Livermore roots started with the M & St L Railroad that was being built from Britt to Fort Dodge during 1879. The Town of Livermore was laid out in the fall of 1879 after the final decision of the M & St. L route was made by Wisconsin Governor C.C. Washburn, a influential M & St. L. stockholder, to reach Livermore in December 1879. The migration began that has given the town special charm and integrity. The Town of Livermore was plotted and filed for record on Jan 24th 1880. Burlington, Cedar Rapids & Northern Railroad was finished to Livermore in the fall of 1881.
